DOROTHY ELISE EHRHART, 89, of Memphis, TN, died on August 15, 2011. Elise was born on December 14, 1921 in Kewanee, MS, the fourth daughter of Gustavus Adolphus Lowe and Mary Boswell Lowe. After graduating from business school, she took a job at the newly completed Pentagon in Washington, DC during WWII. There she met her future husband, John Stanley Ehrhart, who was stationed with the U.S. Navy. After the war, they moved to Memphis, TN for “Stan” to attend watchmakers school under the G.I. Bill. Elise was a charter member of Graham Heights Baptist Church, where she served the Lord faithfully for 60 years in various ministries, including Sunday School teacher and choir member. She enjoyed singing, gardening, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. She is survived by four daughters, Linda Kinard (David), Susan Collins (Gary), Cathy Smith (Brad), and Teresa Mackie (Terry); four grandchildren: Charles Kinard, Kurt Smith, Laura Kinard and Kevin Smith; and one great-grandchild, Jude Kinard. She was preceded in death by husband, Stan, one son, Stanley LaVan Ehrhart, and three sisters, Agnes Annelle Cotton, Alva Adelle Milton, and Ida Belle Cornish. Services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 17 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Poplar Avenue, with burial in Memphis Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
