Darrell Floate, husband, world traveller, photographer and computer enthusiast, lost his battle with cancer June 16, 2021. He was 73. Darrell was born June 17, 1947 in Memphis, Tennessee, attended Overton High School and recently ended his career as Director of Quality Control at Metro Logistics.
He spent the last 33 years living one adventure after another. When he wasn’t on a cruise ship, he was planning the next adventures for himself, Marie and family. He travelled to 6 continents and over 75 countries, always in search of zip-lines, dance floors, great conversation, and amazing scenery. He was most proud of his recent climb to the top of the Sydney Bridge in Australia. Darrell will be remembered fondly for his attention to detail, quick wit, dance moves, travel stories and especially his devotion to his wife.
Darrell was welcomed into heaven by his mother, Wilma Floate Markle and father, Walter Lawrence Floate. He leaves behind his wife, sweetheart, and travel companion, Marie Floate; sister, Peggy Hurley (Charles), niece, Shannon Ellard; nephew, Brian Hurley; and many great-nieces and -nephews.
A private celebration of Darrell's amazing life will be held by his family. Graveside services will occur on Monday, June 21, at 10:00 AM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee.
