Clara Johnson Solley Hastings

Clara Johnson Solley Hastings, age 78, of Somerville, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. She was a longtime resident of Oakland, Tennessee and a devout member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. She worked as an accountant for Die Supplies, Guardsmark Inc., Coca Cola, and Parts Incorporated.

After her retirement in 2010, Clara fulfilled her dream of raising and showing bullmastiffs and began Castle Hill Bullmastiffs. She went on to breed several champion bullmastiffs and was a member of the Greater Shelby County Kennel Club. She loved her family and enjoyed traveling, yard work, horses, concerts, and the Bop Club. She never met a stranger.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Hastings; daughter, Cynthia Lynn Brown; son, Charles Richard Johnson; grandchildren, Steven Keith McBroom Jr., William Cody Brown, Kimberly Anne Brown, and Trevor Montgomery Brown; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Monday, December 16 at Hickory Withe Baptist Church, 17675 TN-196, Hickory Withe, TN 38028. The visitation will begin at 11:00 AM to be followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM. A graveside committal service will occur afterwards, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119.
