Bradley “Brad” Carl Cook, 64, of Memphis, Tennessee went home to Jesus Christ on January 2nd, 2024 surrounded by his family. His passing was the result of complications from a stroke suffered in July 2023.
Brad was born on May 22nd, 1959 in Memphis, Tennessee to John Edward Cook and Jewell Inez Cook.
Growing up, Brad and his family were members of White Station Baptist Church. He attended Colonial Elementary and Junior High School as well as White Station High School where he was voted Most Athletic of the 1977 class.
Though his time on Earth was shorter than we wished, he lived an accomplished and fulfilled life. Brad was a hard worker and was employed by Cargill for over 20 years and Schneider National for over 10 years. He enjoyed sitting by the fire, listening to music, “hanging pool side”, fishing, golfing, camping, and attending concerts of his favorite band, The Rolling Stones, who he saw over 30 times (most recently in London with some of his best friends). At a young age Brad picked up a pool cue and billiards became a lifelong hobby in which he excelled greatly. At age 32 he obtained a private pilot license. He was a diehard Tennessee Volunteers football fan, and even had the opportunity to cheer them on to victory while attending the 1998 National Championship. Brad rode in many local parades as a proud member of The Krewe of Stu. More than anything, Brad enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In November of 2023, while in the hospital, Brad was received into full communion with the Catholic Church.
Brad was preceded in death by his parents John and Jewell Cook, sister Debbie Stanfield, and brother John Cook Jr.
Brad is survived by his daughter Melissa Kelly and her husband Drew, son Carson Cook and his wife Abby, daughter Molly Landry and her husband Will, brother Bill Cook and his wife Becky, and sister Charmaine Murphree. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Cole Kelly, Cooper Kelly, Connor Kelly, Collin Kelly, and Rosemary Cook. He was affectionately known to his grandchildren as Pappy and two more grandchildren are expected this year.
A visitation for Bradley will be held Monday, January 8th, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:15 PM at St. Louis Catholic Church, 203 S White Station Rd, Memphis, TN 38117. A funeral mass will occur Monday, January 8, 2024 at 1:30 PM, 203 S White Station Rd, Memphis, TN 38117. Internment will occur Monday, January 8, 2024 immediately following the funeral mass at Memorial Park Cemetery at 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119.
