He was born and raised in Olive Branch, Mississippi by his parents and was one of eleven children.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents James & Rose Wallace; brothers Max, Hasel, Maurice and Larry; sisters Peggy and Melba; his wife Carol Fite Wallace and their only child Lisa Wallace. He is survived by his brothers Johnny, Tommy, and Wayne and sister Helen.
Billy was a veteran of the Army for three years and served in Korea for one of those years. He was a member of Colonial Park United Methodist Church. He retired from the Memphis Fired Department after 30 years as Chief of the Metro Arson Squad and then worked as a bailiff with Judge Kennedy.
He loved football and loved to attend Ole Miss games. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, April 5 beginning at nine o'clock in the morning until services begin at ten o'clock all at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119. Burial with procession will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery.
