Bettye Louise Harris, 72, was born June 16, 1941 in Halls, TN, and passed away December 28, 2013 in Memphis. She leaves behind one daughter, June Vongprachanh; her son-in-law, Ira Vongprachanh; and one grandson, Nicholas Vongprachanh, all of Cordova, TN. She also leaves behind two sisters, Ruth Hartsfield of Halls, TN and Julie Phillips of Halls, TN, and two brothers E.J. Arwood of Halls, TN, and Jim Arwood of Memphis, TN. Her beloved husband of thirty-five years, Eugene Harris, preceded her in death fifteen years ago. Bettye retired from K-Mart in 1997 after over twenty years of work. In the last two years of her life she resided at Emeritus at Cordova, where she was loved and cherished by all the staff. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, December 30, and funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, at Family Funeral Care on Summer Avenue. Interment will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, lasting memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
