Betty Milam Bennett was born on March 16th, 1933 in Waterloo, Alabama. The family moved a few years after she was born to Savannah, Tennessee. Her father, Walker died suddenly of an illness when she was 6 years old and she was raised by her mother, Lillian. She had three siblings, Laverne the oldest, Jessie Nell and a younger brother, Walker. She went to high school in Savannah and after graduating, moved to Memphis where she worked as a dental hygienist for 25 years for Dr. Joe Patrick. She married Sam Bennett on November 16th, 1963 and had one child, Jonathan Bennett. She later worked as an Administrative Assistant for USAIG until she retired in 1996.
She is survived by her son Jonathan, his wife Jennifer, her two granddaughters, Grace and Emma her brother, Walker Milam and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
The family will receive friends on Sunday September 18, 2022 from 2-3 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m.
