Anita was born on July 22, 1944 to Wiley Owen Ellis and Rose Smith Ellis in Memphis, TN. Anita graduated from Treadwell High School. After graduation, she worked outside the home for a few years before becoming a homemaker and having her three sons, Rondy, Michael, and Christopher Drewery.
Anita so enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family. Her door was always open to everyone. She loved cooking and fellowshipping, so family and friends could be found gathered around her table all the time.
She is survived by her older sister, Mary Ann Brooks, of Portland, TN; her son, Christopher Neal Drewery, granddaughter, Shelby Drewery Gentry, great granddaughter, Kaylee Grace Quinn, all of Memphis, TN; nieces Becky Stillions, Rose Ellis, Linda Crews, Kathy Elshoff, Karen Cole, nephew, Steve Stewart, many great nieces and nephews, and many wonderful loving friends.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley Owen Ellis and Rose Smith Ellis, her husband, Larry C. Murphy, two of her sisters, Betty Jo Baird and Carolyn Roos, and two of her sons, Rondy Lee Owen Drewery and Michael Shane Drewery.
Anita’s wishes were to be cremated with no formal service scheduled. Her request was for her family to just love on one another and remember her smile, her laughter, her love for Jesus and her zeal for life. She loved all of God’s little creatures, especially her fur-babies who were waiting for her at the Rainbow Bridge, so if you wish to honor her memory, please consider making a donation to Tunica Humane Society or to your favorite animal rescue group.
