Edward Jean Plume was the firstborn to Edward and Jeanette Plume in San Francisco, California seventy eight years ago.
After graduating in 1962 from Sierra High School, Ed became employed as a surveyor in Foster City, California where he would soon meet and marry Diane “Dee” Skanderup on June 4, 1966. The following year a daughter, Michelle Marie was born and a son two years later, David Edward. Upon enjoying many family camping vacations to the wooded Union Creek area, Ed and Dee made a difficult decision to break away from “the rat race” and their families to start their new life in Oregon as their children reached the age to attend school.
Ed became employed by Jack Hoffburgh and surveyed the Lost Creek Lake in 1974. After six months of stopping daily at the Trail Market for “refreshments” after work, Ed seized the opportunity for yet another life change. He and his wife purchased the Trail Market from Howard and Irene Tipton. The Plume family resided inside the connected one bedroom apartment and quickly became a vital part of the rural community of Trail. Trail Market served as the hub of “all the comings and goings” whatever was happening, good, bad, or indifferent. Many families made the town of Trail special! Genuine friendships, people extending themselves to help each other, and just the simple act of treating others as you would like to be treated molded Ed, Dee, and their children Michelle and David to fit right into this “country way” of living.
Fast forward twenty two years, Ed retires and joins the Golfing Community. It was a slow start but with persistence and always wanting to be his best, Ed spent a lot of time on the Green “spending his green $” which led to his lowest handicap of 13-14 indicating an above average skilled player. The Eagle Point Golf Course became Ed’s new turn for fun and friendships! A highlight was of course when Ed shot a HOLE in ONE on the number 15 back in 2001.
Much time was also spent with buddies at the Rogue River Lodge or Beldis enjoying cocktails, delicious dinners, watching sports, and shaking some dice! In the early years of 2000, Ed because a member of the Upper Rogue Moose Lodge located in Shady Cove. He looked forward to the home cooked meals and playing cards with his friends a few nights each week.
Spending time with family was always important to Ed whether it be for celebrations, camping, fishing, Oregon Duck Football games, family dinners or spur of the moment visits. He shared many years of partnership with his “Lovee” Toni Woolsey.
Life was grand before the sudden change on May 10, 2018. Ed fought his battle of pancreatic cancer with full force and determination to overcome! He wanted to live and believes that “everybody’s prayers” are the only reason he was able to keep fighting and that the Lord blessed him to live many more days, that turned into months, and the months even turned into nearly 4 ½ years!
There are numerous people who have made an imprint on Ed’s life over the past years. Please know that you were special to him and that his productive and positive life wouldn’t have been possible without you!
The family is grateful for the many caring health workers at HOA, Heimann Cancer Center, Infusion, CVI, and IR. Ed developed meaningful relationships and he will be missed.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Jeanette, his brother Rick Plume, and grandson David Bartlett. Ed is survived by his daughter Michelle (Robert) Stockton of Trail, grandson Trayson Weidman of Trail, son David (Carole) Plume of Creswell, granddaughter Nicole (Tony) Minoli of Eagle Point, grandson Terry Bartlett of Central Point, 4 great grandchildren, a great-great grandson, and cousins Jackie Hall, Steve and Gigi of California.
A celebration of life will be held at Trail Christian Fellowship at 1:00pm, October 22, 2022.
