She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Brooks; children, Paulette Longan and Russell Blackwell; and granddaughter, Amanda Longan.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Teresa Greene (Glen); granddaughter, Joanna Callaway (Patrick); and several great-grandchildren.
Thelma had a natural gift for music, and her beautiful singing voice was a source of joy for all who heard her. She was a woman of many talents and a true entrepreneur, owning several businesses throughout her life. Her determination and drive were matched only by her generous spirit.
Thelma’s heart knew no bounds when it came to caring for others, whether they were family, friends, strangers, or animals. Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners were always an adventure, with her table welcoming anyone in need of a warm meal and good company. Her selflessness and compassion touched countless lives.
A creative soul, Thelma enjoyed crocheting scarves and sharing her handcrafted treasures with those she loved. She was also a phenomenal cook and baker, the go-to person for desserts that never failed to delight.
Thelma’s family and friends will forever cherish her kindness, warmth, and the many memories they shared with her.
A graveside service to honor Thelma’s life will be held at 2 PM on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Powhatan Community Cemetery, 3929 Old Buckingham Rd., Powhatan, VA 23139.
