Dewey Victor Samick

Our Father, Dewey Victor Samick, sadly passed away on December 14, 2022, at the age of 85. He was born September 13, 1937, in Jersey City, N.J., to Dewey and Miriam Samick. He is survived by his wife, Betty C. Samick; two sons, Glenn S. Samick (Myrinda) and Michael R. Samick; and brother, Donald Samick. There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 3pm, at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home located at 9271 Shady Grove Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23116. Mr. Samick is a 21-year Navy Veteran who did several tours in Vietnam, where he was a Dental Technician and Corpsman. After retirement he gave back to the Veterans by becoming a Drug & Alcoholic Counselor. He then went on to own his own photography company called Personal Visions. He specialized in sports photography and produced Little League baseball cards that were a great “hit” for the parents! He also loved his saltwater fishing and garden. He lived in Portsmouth, VA for 50 years before moving to Richmond, VA a few years ago. The last couple of years were spent at the wonderful VA home of Sitter & Barfoot. They took great care of him, and he loved living there! He was one of the kindest souls on this planet. He was a gentle, giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure his family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. He was a dedicated Husband, Father and Brother. He is now at peace and will live forever in our hearts. We love you so much. Rest in peace.
