Bruce Alan Young

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Joyce Young; parents-in-law, Howard and Eula Pape; sister-in-law, Tandy LeFon; and brother-in-law, Taylor Cousins. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Roxane P. Young; children, Wendy Lushbaugh (Edwin) and David Young (Jenny); grandchildren, Savannah (Leo), Tiffany (Kainin), Noah, Nathan, and Jaxie; great-grandchildren, Waylon and Adaleigh; sisters, Levonne Cousins and Sherri Mayville (Bill); niece, Kim Andrews; nephew, Dale Williams (Carolyn); great-nephews, Brad (Hayley), Aric, and Brendan; and numerous other family and friends. Bruce was born in Richmond, Virginia, graduated from Hermitage High School (1968), served in the Navy Seabees, and married his highschool sweetheart (1970), before moving to Mechanicsville, Virginia where he resided for the last 44 years. He attended the Richmond Technical Center for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. He retired after 37 years from Richfood/Supervalu, where he was a superintendent. Bruce was a faithful member at Shalom Baptist Church in Mechanicsville, Virginia. He loved The Lord, in the past serving as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Singing was a passion of his from musicals in High School, solos at church, and often singing at important life events. Bruce loved spending time in the Outer Banks with family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing and boating. The family will receive friends from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Woody Funeral Home - Atlee, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23116. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Woody Funeral Home as well. Interment will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Signal Hill Memorial Park, 12360 Hanover Courthouse Rd., Hanover, VA 23069.
