Angelo P. Crisci, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Bon Secours Hospice Center during the early morning hours of Thursday May 30, 2024, at the age of 87. He is survived by his children, Angela Sands, Michael Vasquez, and Steven Crisci, four grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sister Filomena Crisci. Angelo was born on November 25, 1936, in New York into an Italian immigrant family originally from Roscigno, Italy. Angelo served in the US Navy between 1955 and 1963 as a munitions officer. After proudly serving, Angelo married Jennie Crisci and started a family in the Bronx, New York. Shortly after, he moved his family to set down roots in Cortlandt, NY. After several years of commuting to the city, then to New Jersey, he retired from Lever Brothers after working there for over 25 years and moved the family to Richmond, VA in 1991. Angelo enjoyed spending time with family and pursuing various hobbies such as gardening, teaching chess, coin collecting, sudoku, and dreaming about winning the lottery. Angelo was passionate about teaching the younger generation the finer points of chess strategy. Angelo also enjoyed vegetable gardening and landscape design so much he received a Master Gardener Certification. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 2pm at the Woody Funeral Home – Atlee Chapel where family and friends are gathering to celebrate his life and share countless stories of the positive impacts he had made in their lives. Per his wishes, Angelo’s ashes will be laid to rest at the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
