Elizabeth Catherine “Cissy” McKown was a wife, mama, granny, sister, and friend. She left this world on June 22, 2023 at the age of 80. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Post Oak Cemetery outside of Oglesby, Texas with Reverend Charlie Brown officiating.
Cissy McKown was born in Brownwood, Texas on August 20, 1942 to Robert D. Eaton and Oma Del Vacker Eaton. She was the oldest of seven siblings. Cissy worked as a surgical nurse at Hillcrest Hospital before marrying and up until she became a mother. Alex and Cissy met and three months later were married on July 6, 1963. They were fourteen days shy of celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. They had three daughters: Rhonda, Sue, and Patsy.
Cissy enjoyed cooking and baking. She made the best fried chicken and chocolate meringue pie that could not be duplicated. She especially loved singing soprano with Alex at church on Sunday mornings.
Cissy is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Eaton and Oma Eaton, her daughter, Rhonda Gail, her brother Ray Eaton, and her sisters Judy Wollard and Kay Mincher.
Cissy is survived by her husband, Alex McKown, daughter Sue Walters, and husband Kenny Walters, daughter Patsy Paxton, and husband Donnie Paxton, grandchildren: Gracie Walters, Clay Walters, and Abby Paxton.
