Billy Ray Kimbrel of Eddy died early Friday morning, February 24, 2012, at the age of 80. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at Cole Chapel, 304 Eighth Street, Moody. Interment will follow in Moffat Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M Monday at Cole Chapel.
Mr. Kimbrel was born November 13, 1931, in Bell County, Texas, the son of the late Troy William and Laura Emmaline (Harris) Kimbrel and attended school in Rogers. During the Korean Conflict, he served his country in the United States Army. On August 16, 1958, he married the former Vivian Lucille Moore in Cameron, Texas. After forty-six years of marriage, she preceded him in death February 28, 2005.
Much of his life was spent in the cardboard manufacturing business. He more recently was employed by Central Texas Corrugated and retired in 2000 as a starch line operator. In earlier years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing bingo.
Also preceding him in death was a brother, Harvey Kimbrel and a sister Wanda Nichols.
Survivors include a step-son, Kenneth Gist; three brothers, Don Kimbrel and wife Anita Jo, Steve Kimbrel and wife Wanda, Kenneth Kimbrel and wife Christy Jordan; a sister Barbara Perkins and husband Jay; two step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.
