Basilia "Basi" Martinez

It is with great sadness the family of Basilia Bedell Martinez announces her passing on Sunday, May 21, 2023, after a short but valiant battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and loved ones. Basilia was born February 15, 1977, to Rosie Bedell and Antonio Martinez, Sr in Austin, Texas. She worked at Mr. Snow and Torres Meat House where she also enjoyed the company of her cousins.

Basilia was preceded in death by her mother, Rosie Bedell, and her father, Antonio Martinez Sr. She is survived by brothers Antonio Martinez, Jr., Nieves Martinez, and nieces and nephews, Alanis, Sevein, Angelina, Nieves, Jr, Antonio, Sabrina, and Bianca.

A viewing will be held at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor on Friday, May 26th from 1-9 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Eugene’s Catholic Church in McGregor. Interment will follow at the McGregor Cemetery. There will be a reception to follow at St. Eugene’s Catholic Church in McGregor.

Pallbearers will be, Elmer Torres, Uriel Torres, Ulysses Mendez, Ramon Ramirez, Oscar Ramirez, and Jesus Ramirez. The honorary pallbearers will be Ramiro Martinez, and Bertin Reynoso, Jr.

Basilia will be remembered for her mischief and contagious laughter. She was a wonderful and loving sister, cousin, aunt, and friend to so many. She will be greatly missed.
