Mr. Walter Ronald “Ronnie” Newton, age 77 of McDonough, Georgia passed away September 23, 2017. He was born in Red Oak, Georgia to the late Morris L. and Helen Louise Carey Newton. He was preceded in death by a son, Darryl Newton, a brother, Jimmy Newton and a great grandson, Parker Moss. Ronnie faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was owner and operator of Georgia Homes for 30 years and was a member of Way of the Cross Baptist Church. Ronnie enjoyed building things for his family, cooking, watching NASCAR, especially Richard Petty. He was a “Jack of All Trades and Master of All”. Survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, Barbara Newton; children, Wanda (Rodney) Wilkins of Stockbridge, Rusty (Chantal) Newton of McDonough, Scott Newton of Atlanta; grandchildren, Amanda Williford, Shaun Hope, Kassidy, Kasey, Christopher, Kyle, Lyndsey, Sophia and Shylah Newton; great grandchildren, Landon Moss, Kayla Leverett, Christopher Hope, Clayton Hope, Erica Hope, Ace Kersey and Gavin Newton; great-great grandson, Breylan Leverett; brother, Donald (Janet) Newton of Hampton; step-brother, Jimmy (Alice) Brinkley of Rocky Face; niece, Sherry (Russell) Whitaker of Colquitt; nephew, Curtis Marbut of McDonough; numerous other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2017 – 1:00 PM at the Way of the Cross Baptist Church. Pastor Steven Bell will officiate. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
