Shawn T. Smith, age 51, of McDonough GA, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Shawn was born in Louisville KY on May 31st, 1971 to mother, Patricia Watson and father, Thomas “Tom” Smith. Shawn graduated from Moore high school and attended the University of Louisville (and is a cardinal) before moving to Atlanta, GA. Shawn was a loving dad, husband, family man and avid sports fan, especially of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved sports and played baseball before he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 18. Shawn worked as an assistant store leader and coordinator for Kroger for 13 years before joining the vendor side of the retail business. He worked for Bimbo Bakeries USA as an account executive for 13 years.
Shawn is survived by his wife, Hazelon and son Zachary Smith; mother, Patricia (Alan) Watson; father, Thomas Smith; sister, Heather (Bill) Gray; step brother, Patrick Lockhart; sister in law and brother's in law, Samonia and Deon Vanterpool, Gary Hillhouse, Dexter Caul; mother in law, Venita Cottoy Chapman; father in law, Trevor Dublin; nieces and nephews, Regan, Jake, and Kaylee Gray, Deonte and Denika Vanterpool, Terrence and Travis Rodney, Dequon, Delonte and Skyla Hillhouse; aunts and uncles, Dawn Cottoy, Steve (Jeralyn) Hickman, Carl Hickman, Bob Hickman, Rick (Marsha) Watson, Georgia Watson, Karen (Doug Poutler) Watson, Margaret (Ronnie) Sheeley, Virgie (Mike) Davis, Camille (Steve) Norris, Gene Smith; cousin, Suezel Kmiec; special friends, Richie Jarrett, Tim Brand, Shelley Roberts, Nikia and John St. Luce, Zackiyyah Parks, David and Carri Francis; many other loved family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 12:00 pm followed by a Celebration of life at 2:00pm. The family would like to welcome all for appetizers, in the hospitality suite, from 3-4pm at the funeral home. A repass will follow from 5-7pm at Shawn and Hazelon’s home.
