Sara Nell Massey

Sara Nell Massey, age 87, of Stockbridge, Georgia passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born in Centre, Alabama on February 11, 1937 to the late Walter and Nola Snider Anthony. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Henry Massey and five siblings Jack Anthony, HF Anthony, Francis Wood Helmes, Peggy Pruitt, and Gladys Coker.

Nell is survived by her son Seth (Alicia Bozeman) Massey Sr.; two grandsons Seth (Kayla) Massey Jr. and Shane (Jessica) Massey; four great grandchildren Aidan, Vivienne, Wyatt, and Everly Massey; siblings Jean (Jackie Sligh) Floyd, Margaret Ann "Poochy" Davis and Virginia Grimes; and many nieces, nephews, and beloved family members.

In 1966 Nell and Henry moved to Stockbridge, Georgia where they created not only a life, but a family together. She cherished and cared for her son and grandsons, and adored her great grandchildren. Nell was the cornerstone of the Massey household with strength and love that she passed on to the younger generations. She was a hard worker and loved to spend time in her yard, and a firm believer that if you wanted rose bushes or pecan trees, you better get out there and do it yourself. She decorated for every holiday excitedly and enjoyed making her house festive, especially during Christmas where you could find multiple christmas trees in multiple rooms. There was always a miniature can of coke or sprite in her fridge and a container of candied fruit slices or peach rings on the counter. In her latter years of life Nell was taken care of by her son and family, who has loved her dearly and they will miss her greatly.

A visitation for Nell will be Monday, July 29, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Haisten Funerals & Cremations, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253. The funeral service is Monday, July 29, 2024 at 1:00 PM, in the Haisten chapel. The committal will immediately follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens, 164 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge, GA 30281.
