Patricia Ann Sparks

Patricia Ann Sparks (born Robinson) age 81 of McDonough, Georgia passed away on January 4, 2023. She was born in Marion, NC to the late Lenore Silver. In addition to her mother, gone before her, is her life-long companion and husband of 61 years, Ray C. Sparks, grandson Andrew Perry, and brother Brooks Robinson. She loved to sing, she loved to dance, she loved to travel, she loved the Lord, and she loved her family. Pat leaves behind daughters Wendy (Willie) Brown, Beth (Rob) Hovis, Joni (Derrill) Perry, and son David (Michelle) Sparks; 11 grandchildren Noah (Angelica) Brown, Ian (Shane) Brown, Rebekah (Carsten) Bradley, Jena (Ryan) Seay, Robert (Danielle) Hovis, Jr., Autumn (Cameron) Lovett, Ashlyn (Scott) Benton, Allie Perry, Aaron Perry, Sadie (Jameson) Foote, and Dakota Ray Sparks, and 16 great grandchildren. Pat was always up to something. As a high school student, she played French horn in the school band, studied Latin, was an actor in the drama club, she played basketball and tennis, and danced often in the gym whether there was a band playing or not. She worked in accounting and banking, was an excellent seamstress, and for many years was a successful business owner in Fayetteville, GA owning and running The Herb Shop. Pat was an accomplished singer and for many years sang in the choir at The Rock Baptist Church in Rex Georgia, also fronting a Christian Band named Covenant with her best friend of more than 50 years, Evelyn Moss. Covenant’s ministry included the inmates and staff of jails and prisons throughout the Southeast. Rarely sitting still, Pat loved to travel, she loved to cook for family and friends introducing many non-southerners to the delicacy “Chocolate Gravy” and she dabbled in amateur photography selling her photographs of landscapes, birds, flowers, bees, and butterflies in The Herb Shop. Pat’s interests were varied, most of all, she loved the times with family, telling stories, playing games, cooking, dancing, and singing. Every day was a day to get together and celebrate life. Dementia cruelly took Pat from her family and friends, and their world won’t be the same. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, and we give thanks that Pat now fellowships with her Heavenly Father and with those who have preceded her. Services will be held at 2:30pm on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Glen Haven Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park.
