Nellie M Mayhue

Mrs. Nellie Mae Mayhue, age 102, of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away October 30, 2015. Miss Nellie as everyone knew her was born in Sylacauga, AL the daughter of the late Ollie Maebelle Shubert Gipson and Lee Milner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lonzo Mayhue Jr. “Red”, sons, James and Franklin Mayhue. Miss Nellie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, singing, going to singing, being an active part of her church and the Saints Alive Sunday School Class when she was able. She was a devoted member of the Hillpatrick Chapter #441 Order of the Eastern Star and the McDonough Royal Court of the Amaranth #22. Miss Nellie was the oldest citizen of Locust Grove and the oldest member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church. Survivors are her loving daughter and son-in-law, Earline and Bobby Smith of Locust Grove; daughter-in-law, Lucy Mayhue of Jackson; grandchildren, Al Mayhue, Eddie Mayhue (Stephanie), Mason Smith (Keila), Daniel Smith (Felicia), and Angel Gilmer (Mike); and 10 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6 – 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 – 2:00 PM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Chaplin Naranjan Noronha officiating. Interment will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
