Mike is survived by his wife Janice (Gibson) Phillips, and brother Danny Phillips; close friends Julie Pearson, and Calvin Gay. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
His mother, Gemina (Rhodes) Phillips passed away in October 2014.
Mike was a locksmith in the south Atlanta area since the mid-1970s. He obtained his ham radio license in 2021. He enjoyed spending time at the local state park with his wife feeding the ducks, picnicking, fishing, and watching the sunset.
Mike and Janice grew up together in the south Atlanta area and were high school friends who met again in 2011. They dated, moved in together in 2012, and married in 2014, settling in Lithia Springs before moving to Locust Grove in 2022. He enjoyed being a dad to four fur babies Alex, Sam, Jed, and Clara. He taught Janice to play chess, how to throw darts, and make a house key with his locksmithing equipment. They spent time together cooking, watching Star Trek and The Outer Limits reruns, and visiting local family.
With his love of ‘70s classic rock he installed speakers throughout the living room to enjoy their favorite music. The holidays were fun for him, starting with Halloween through Christmas, where he always decorated the house for whatever holiday was coming up. He loved watching Braves baseball and whatever football game was on, betting with his friend Calvin on games.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
