Jack Marshall Hamilton, age 92, of Locust Grove, Georgia, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023. Jack was born on November 18, 1930 in Royal Oak, Michigan to the late Martin Hamilton and Helen Elizabeth Taylor Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Betty Pritchard Hamilton and sister Helen Elizabeth LaBrosse.
He graduated with honors in 1949 from Eastern High School in Detroit, Michigan where he was a varsity baseball and basketball player. He received his Varsity Letterman Award for outstanding achievements in competitive swimming and platform diving.
As a young man he was an active member with the Bethany Methodist Church youth group. While attending youth group retreats he met his wife and later married on November 1, 1958. Jack's work experience included many areas of the construction industry. Later, he worked for Kobel Diamond Tool as a diamond cutter, before changing careers to become a machinist, working for Whitlam Label Co., Pioneer Labels Inc. and Quality Park Products. In 1995 after fifty years of employment he retired.
During his retirement, Jack loved the great outdoors. Hunting, fishing, camping and yard landscaping were his passions. You could always find him on a riding lawn mower or in his workshop. When he wasn’t outside he could be found watching an Atlanta Braves game, Wheel of fortune or Barrett-Jackson car auctions. His greatest blessing was being a Father to his three children, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. “Pops” as he was affectionately known by many was a kind, gentle, loving man. Family, friends, and neighbors could always depend on him if they needed a helping hand. He truly lived life to the fullest and will always remain in our hearts.
Jack is survived by his children and spouses, Gail Bowen of Locust Grove, GA, Lynn (Randy) Nichols of Hampton GA, and Jack Martin Hamilton of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Kristyn R. Bowen of Tampa, FL, Randall (Nicole) Nichols of Williamson, GA, Amber N. Watkins of Hampton, GA, Alyssa D. Nichols of Hampton, GA and Logan M. LaCroix of Locust Grove, GA.; great-grandchildren Bryson Bowen, Paisley Nichols, Owen Nichols, and Sage McPherson; brother Martin D. Hamilton (Sally) of Troy, MI; sister Margaret S.
