Herbert Franklin Nation Sr., age 76 of McDonough passed away peacefully on Sunday March 28, 2021. He was born in Blairsville, GA on June 16, 1944. He is preceded in death by his parents John Henry and Novalee Potts Nation; his late wife of forty years and mother of his children Betty Ledbetter Nation; siblings Wayne Nation, Della Shelton, and Benny Nation. He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Karen Nation; daughter Christy Nation; son and daughter-in-law Herb Jr and Shiree Nation; grandchildren, Amanda (Matt) Whitaker, Kayla (Blake) Fransen, Michael (Erica) Prickett, Adam (Lauren) Nation, Austin (Danielle) Nation, Alexis (Cory) Overstreet; great grandchildren, Peyton Whitaker, Wade Fransen, Henry Nation, and Kensli Mcelwaney; sisters Willie Grindle, and Shelby Ledford; brothers, Johnny Nation, and Gerald Nation; brother in-law; Loyd Shelton sister in-law; Jerri Nation, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Herb Sr. was retired from Scottdale Mills and Treasure Chest/Vertis Logistics. He was a member of Victorious Life Church of God in Conyers, GA. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, Nascar, wrestling, watching the Braves, attending drag racing on Friday nights at AMS but most of all he loved being with his family. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Lung Association. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 5:00pm - 6:00pm. Tim Prickett will officiate a Celebration of Life from 6:00pm - 7:00pm for immediate family members only.
