Mrs. Gracie Lou Haney, age 94 of McDonough, Georgia passed away June 19, 2018. She was born in Calhoun, Tennessee to the late John and Katherine Liner Scarbrough. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Hoyt Haney; daughter, Brenda Joyce Haney and by six siblings. Mrs. Haney, known as Mammaw, was a member of the Way of the Cross Baptist Church. Her main purpose in life was caring for her family, her flowers, yard and garden. Selling vegetables, especially tomatoes was one of her biggest hobbies in the summertime. Cutting grass and gathering leaves was always her first hobby in fall and winter. Nothing made her happier than to cook. Each morning began with her preparing homemade biscuits for her loving husband before he went home to be with the Lord. Other specialties included chicken and dumplins, fried pies, old fashioned apple stack cake and a variety of pies and cakes. She cherished her times with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren attending any and all activities they were involved in whether it be sporting, band, drama or graduations. Survivors include daughters, Linda (Gary) Lathem, Marilyn Ragland and Kay Dean (Ron) Barker all of McDonough; grandchildren, Teresa Lathem, Mark Deese, Julie (Casey) McGlamery, Blair (Jeana) Combs and Brandon (Pam) Combs; great grandchildren, Wade McGlamery, Zak McGlamery, Bryson Combs, Roni Barker, Kathryn (Dennis) Tam, Leslee Barker, Hannah Kirby, Kaley Kirby, Kyle Murray and Dylan Murray; great-great grandchildren, Kamden, Amelia and Karson; numerous nieces and nephews; and Lee (Connie) Atkins, who she raised like a son. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 22, 2018 – 1:00 PM in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park. Friends may visit the family Friday from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to Southern Grace Hospice in memory of Gracie Haney.
