Gordon R. Mayben, age 80, of Jonesboro, GA passed away peacefully on September 4, 2023. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who left an indelible mark on the lives he touched. Gordon's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones.
Gordon was born on February 24, 1943, in Gadsden Alabama, to the late James & Maggie Mayben. In his early years, Gordon served his country with honor in the US Army National Guard. He later moved to Georgia and began his career with Sherwin Williams where he remained until his retirement, over 40 years later. His strong work ethic and integrity were evident to all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Gordon was a dedicated family man. He married his sweetheart, Donna, in January 1963 and their love remained unwavering for over five decades. Together, they raised two children, instilling in them the values of compassion, kindness, and resilience. And though Gordon was a man of few words, he was the rock of his family, offering unwavering support and guidance throughout their lives.
Gordon is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna Mayben; and is survived by his children, Devin (Kimberly) and Matt (Sandra); his grandchildren, Sydney (Weston), Madison, Luke and Abby (Brendan). He is also survived by 2 great grandchildren, Noah and Conner. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 12:00-1:30PM at the Haisten Funerals & Cremations, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253. A brief graveside service will directly follow. Gordon’s spirit will continue to shine through and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Rest in peace, Gordon, your legacy will be cherished forever.
