At 7:30 pm on Thursday, April 11, 2024, Dorothy "Dot" Ann Jarvis, age 91, of Hampton, Georgia passed from this world into the glorious mansion awaiting her in Heaven. Among those to greet her and welcome her home were her parents, her sister Ruby Wood, daughter in law Anita Jarvis and her beloved husband Homer Lee Jarvis.
Dot graduated from Columbus High School in Columbus Ga. and joined the work force with positions at Southern Bell and real estate sales and condo management in Panama City Beach. Dot found that the job titles she truly loved were “Mom” and "Nana".
Dot loved sitting on the porch, taking in the sunshine, watching the birds, waving and talking to the neighbors. She enjoyed spending time reading and playing cards and other games (even proclaiming herself “Farkle” champion).
Dot was a fan of the Atlanta Braves with her favorite player being Michael Harris. Her favorite place was the beach.
Dot loved the Lord and her church families. When she was a member of United Covenant Methodist Church in Dallas, NC she made lasting friends as part of their quilting club.
Most recently Dot was a member at McDonough Christian Church where she rededicated her life to Christ and was baptized again on February 20, 2022, at the age of 90.
Dot’s memory and legacy lives on through her children Karen (Barry) Rhyne,
Keith Jarvis, Kim (Kenny) Potts and grandchildren David (Britney) Rhyne, Kristy (Tom) Kunerth, Kris (Tiffany) Jarvis, Jake (Jessica) Potts and Britney (Chuck) Rutledge.
A special place was held reserved in Dot’s heart for “her babies”, great grandchildren Carter Norris, Cora Rutledge, Melissa Jarvis, Lydia Jarvis and Kash Jarvis.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at McDonough Christian Church, 2000 Jonesboro Rd, McDonough, GA 30253, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM.
