Daphne Bartley, a resident of McDonough GA area since 2003, died Saturday, February 4th at Piedmont Henry Hospital. Born in 1937 in Portland (Long Road) Jamaica, she moved to Nottingham, England along with her cousins in the winter of 1955, where she met and married Marcus Owen Harrison in 1956 and had five children, Sylvia, Jennifer, Michael (Deceased), Christopher & Christine. Except for her son Michael, the family moved to America in 1978. In 1995 she met and married Ronald Bartley and helped raise his three daughters Sophia, Bridgett and Debbie. She became a Nursing Assistant a job she loved and where she won an award for the most inventive and creative idea to help her patients. Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, sewing and going to a good party. In 2002 she retired and 2003 moved to McDonough Georgia where she lived until death, February 4, 2017. In 2004 she became a member of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed being retired taking care of her husband and loved her family. Daphne Bartley was one of a kind a SPIRITUAL, LOVING and CARING Woman of God. A woman who loved and cared for people, getting up early in the morning on occasions to cook lunch for some of the children at Henry County High School. She loved to see the joy on people’s face and hated to see anyone suffer. She is survived by her children and step-children, Sylvia, Jennifer, Michael (deceased), Christopher & Christine and Step-children Neil, Sophia, Bridgett, and Debbie. Grandchildren, Crae, Ashley, Richard, Monique & Monet; Danielle and Ackeem; Kaleb & Brianna; Michael, Ashleigh, Laurence & Spencer, Wesley, Joel, & Linton; Brianne, Jayden, Delainee & Samiyah and several Great Grandchildren. Her sisters Millicent, Doris and Delseta and nieces Colleen & Audrea and nephew Paul along with grandnephews, a host of cousins and a Uncle, all of whom live in England, Jamaica, Florida, Toledo and New York. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 – 9:30 AM at the Eagles Landing First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
