Brett Jameson Clark, at the age of 63, passed on to be with the Lord, May 14, 2023. Brett was born May 7, 1960, in Atlanta, Georgia to James (Jay) and Barbara Clark. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and nephew, Jason Clark. Brett is survived by his wife, Vicki, sons Ross Clark (Megan) and Tyler Clark, granddaughters Emma, Abigail and Hadley, sisters Allison Hazelrig (Terry) and Kimberly Clark, brother-in-law Mark Valentine and nephews, Dylan Hazelrig, Ryan Valentine, Travis Valentine, and niece Erin Hazelrig.
Brett grew up in Hapeville and Forest Park, Georgia, where as a boy he explored the streets of his community, neighborhood woods and creeks. Brett loved the outdoors and as a child and young man enjoyed sports, fishing and camping with family and buddies. Brett graduated from Morrow Senior High School in 1979 and then began working in a family-owned business alongside his dad. In 1983-84 he attended Griffin Spalding County Area Vocational Technical Schools (now Southern Crescent Technical College), graduating in 1984 with a Diploma in Heating/Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Brett worked in the HVAC field for almost 40 years, most notably at Grady Memorial Hospital, Douglas County School System and finally Henry County School System.
A relationship with Jesus and serving in His church was foremost in his life. Brett was a Christ follower, accepting Him as his Lord and Savior at age 7, with his mother at his side. Through the years he was an active member of Second Baptist Church of Forest Park (where he was baptized, met, and married his wife, Vicki), First Baptist Church of Hampton, Mt. Zion Baptist Church (served as a deacon) and lastly First Baptist Locust Grove Church. One of his favorite areas of the church to serve was in the nursery. Brett could calm any crying infant with his quiet, calm demeanor. He loved to rock, comfort, and hold them while they slept in his arms. He was quite the handyman and used this talent to serve the churches he attended, in addition to family and neighbors. Brett’s life verse was Proverbs 16:9, ‘The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps’, as many have heard him quote.
Brett’s second love was his family. Brett and Vicki married June 11, 1983. They were blessed with two sons, Ross Jameson and Tyler Jameson, a daughter-in-law, Megan, and three beautiful grand-girls. Brett’s best days were time with his immediate and extended family. On Lake Jackson in his pontoon boat with children and wife, lunch with his sisters, Allison, and Kimberly, or at a family gathering he so treasured seeing all present love and enjoy each other. Brett was a quiet, introspective man and while he may have been a puzzle to many, he loved and cared deeply for those in his life.
A service to celebrate Brett’s life will be held at First Baptist Locust Grove, May 23, 2023 (2950 Tanger Blvd., Locust Grove, GA 30248). Visitation will be the same day, at the church, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, the memorial service to follow from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The family welcomes all who knew him to gather, remember good times and reflect on the goodness of God. In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations in remembrance of Brett Clark to First Baptist Locust Grove, Alzheimer’s Association or Butts Mutts - Butts County Humane Society.
