Kathleen T. Slattery, Born in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway, Ireland on June 19, 1927. A beacon of love and faith, passed away on August 5, 2024, at the age of 97 Kathleen was a beloved wife to her late husband, Liam, and a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Kathleen's life was a tapestry woven with love, faith, and an unwavering commitment to her family. She is survived by her children: Liam (Tracey), Brian (Sheila), Dierdre (the late William) Lubawy, Maureen (Nick) De Gennaro, and Kathleen (John) Pattay. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Katelyn (Kale) Arsenault, Megan, Tara (Joe) DiRico, Liam, Kathleen, Anthony, Maeve, Ryan, Joseph, Jennifer, Gabriella, Juliana, and Rebecca.
Kathleen was predeceased by her dear siblings Lizzie, Nora, Breege, Eileen, Mary, Dymphna, and Shamie. She is survived by her siblings Liam, Pauline, and John. Her Irish heritage and pride in her journey from Ireland to America were cornerstones of her identity. She often reflected with joy on the family she had nurtured, saying, "Look at what I started," and taking immense pride in the accomplishments of her family.
A devout Catholic, Kathleen's faith was her guiding light. She was a pillar of strength and wisdom, offering sage advice and unwavering support to those around her. Known for her non-judgmental and understanding nature, Kathleen had a rare ability to create a calm and harmonious atmosphere wherever she went. Her presence was a soothing balm, and if she were to have a superpower, it would surely be her innate ability to bring tranquility to those around her.
Kathleen was also a passionate reader and lover of word puzzles, finding joy in both her literary pursuits and her vibrant social life. She had a gift for making people feel valued and loved, and her charitable spirit was evident in her preference for donations to causes over personal gifts.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at James Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9:45 a.m. at Maria Regina Church, with interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice, honoring Kathleen's generous and compassionate spirit.
Kathleen T. Slattery's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
