 Judy and I help form the Friends of the library at Mason around 1980.  I can see thather interest was one of so many. About 2 years ago,  I was driving in foreign territory looking for the Everlasting flower garden.  Finally, I came upon a couple to ask for directions.  Lo and behold!  It was Judy after all these years. I recognized her immediately.  Kindred spirits?  That meeting along a country road is one of my more memorable serendipitous experiences.

Judy will be remembered as one of my first friends as a newcomer to Mason.  She will be missed in many places.  Another caring friend, Kate Peyton

Judy was my best friend at work. We walked together, ate in and out together, laughed, and talked about our two lives. I miss her so much. She was such a gift to me and many others.

  I remember the Herrera family moving in at Eden and the girls riding the bus with us.  It wasn't long before they attended Church in Eden.  Latter in life when I returned to the Aurelius Baptist Church I was delighted to find Judy attending there.  She always had a smile and loved music, her family, and her Savior with all her heart.  She will be greatly missed.  My prayers are with the family.  May God fill you with his peace.

Judy and I became friends more than 40 years ago.  We met when we were next door neighbors and new mothers.  For a decade we alternated having babies, and we babysat for one another very often.  We began enrolling in classes at LCC , and we were even able to schedule one class together—Polotical Science 101.  We both became Beeline clothing salespersons but we soon turned to other pursuits as we ran out of friends and relatives whom we could persuade to host house parties.  But the clothes were great!   We discussed the particular problems with raising our children.  We attended open houses and weddings for our kids when they graduated and married.  All the while, we shared our feelings and opinions about everything.  We shared our passion for reading books, and we exchanged books often.  We grew closer with every passing year.  Judy has been my best friend.

There are many qualities about Judy that I admire.  Judy was sincere and thoughtful.  She had a kind heart and an open mind.  Judy was loyal to and respectful of others.  She innately understood people and their circumstances.  Judy was strong and vigorous.  She used her considerable energy to relate to and to help others.  Judy was interested in people.  She loved her family very much, and she loved to tell stories about her grandchildren.  Judy had an impish smile and a ready laugh.
  
Judy was very intelligent and talented.  I loved her wonderful house in the woods which she helped to design.  Her talent for gardening astounded me.  Each summer day when I visited her home, she took me on a tour of her beautiful plantings.  Judy played piano and organ so well; a talent that she shared with her church and with her community.  I loved to listen as she played her piano when I would come to visit.
  
I will miss my friend.   Knowing her has enriched my life beyond measure.  I will keep her spirit in my heart until we meet again.

Judy was my mother and friend. As I gather her things and talk to her friends, I am only beginning to understand how multi-faceted she was and that she had such a wide and loving circle of friends.

Mom was active and always trying new things, most recently violin and acting lessons. She had planned to travel after her retirement this year (and I had hoped to accompany her on a adventures).

I hope her passing offers healing to those that need it most and serve as a reminder that life is uncertain.

I also have worked with her at the Department of Corrections, helping her the past few years with Michigan Harvest Gathering.  She was always so excited and dedicated to this yearly fundraiser.  This year we will be dedicating the Central Office Michigan Harvest Gathering fundraiser to Judy.  In her great memory! 

It was more then a pleasure to have known her and worked with her.

I am truly sorry for the loss of your daughter, sister, mother and grandmother.  Judy's passing leaves a void in my life as well.  I've known Judy since 1975 when we both worked for the Michigan Dept. of Licensing and Regulation.  For the past 13 years, Judy and I were work associates with the Michigan Dept. of Corrections and we were planning our retirements this December 31, 2010.  Judy inspired me to have more confidence in myself. She was a nurturing person with a big heart. She and I could have differences, yet respect one another's point of view.  She shared a lot of her life with me so that I felt comfortable sharing many parts of my life with her.  To me that is a true friendship.  I miss her more today than yesterday.  As time passes, may the memories of Judy's life be cherished in your lives.

I will miss you Judy.  Our conversations after church. All the funny things we laughed about.  And of course scrabble the game you loved.  We had only known each other for a few years which was too short a time.  I know you are in heaven smiling down on us with that great smile of yours.

I am so very sorry for your loss.  I have known Judy over many years in the Department of Corrections.  While our work didn't often have us working directly together, on occasion it did.  I have always appreciated her attention to detail in which she took great pride, the positive energy she regularly exuded, and her appreciation for health and wellness. 

I pass her office space several times each day, and it is not the same knowing she won't be back.

When Judy lost her husband, I sent her a sympathy card.  She wrote me back a beautiful note saying how much she appreciated a particular one of my sentiments, so I wioll share it here with you...

Think of Judy often.  Laugh, cry and even get mad.  But take your time in grieving.  No life well-shared should be hurried past.  It is the recalling of someone - and most particularly the special times you shared together, that pays the highest possible honor, and cements in your heart and mind the person they were to you, and the love that you shared.

Judy is truly one of those exceptional people who's smile and subtle concern for others seemed so timely and often warranted.
