On October 8, 2015 Irene Linn Simpson went to be with her Lord and Savior. Irene was born in Vikarabad India on November 21, 1918, the third child and only daughter of medical missionaries, Dr. Hugh H. and Minnie V. (Logeman) Linn. She lived in India and attended Kodaikanal boarding school until age 16. After finishing high school, college and nurses’ training in the US, she married Rev. John W. Simpson on January 3, 1944 joining his missionary work in Southwest China. The family returned to the US in late 1951, settling near Midland, Michigan with the Homer Methodist Church.
An avid reader, Irene also liked to write, and to win at all games. She knit, sewed, cooked, preserved, canned, and provided for her family and was tireless in her role as minister’s wife; moving to Saginaw in 1963, Utica in 1968, Corunna in 1973 and finally to Owosso in 1980. Irene and her daughter Jeanie moved to Mason, MI in 2004. Since March 2013, Irene has lived at Green Acres in Mason where she was lovingly cared for by staff and friends.
Irene is survived by her 99 year old brother, Dr. Kennie (Evangeline) Linn of Penney Farms, FL; four daughters, Linn Ann (Tony) Mocny of Saginaw, Jeanie Simpson of Mason, Marjorie (Ray) Krumm of Pelkie, and Janice (Bruce) Jeffries of Mason; grandchildren, Laura (Michael) Castillo, Suzanne (Travis) Erdmann, Bethany (Samuel) Nichols, and David (Erin) Jeffries; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; eight nieces; one nephew; cousins Melba Brown and Mildred Madigan; and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dr. Herman Linn, her beloved husband Johnny, grandson Oren Krumm and great-grandson Isaac Nichols.
