Born October 6th, 1927, she was the daughter of Ami B. and H. Pearl Terrill of Dansville. She and her four sisters grew up on a Centennial Farm in an ancestral home with no electricity, participating in the first rural electrification program and telephone line in Ingham County.
Ina graduated as Salutatorian of her Dansville High School class. She married Richard (Dick) Lyon on May 29th, 1947. They had four children: Beverly, Nancy, Rick, and Bob.
Among her favorite memories are ones involving her great grandfather and Chief Okemos and his tribe, friends who often camped on the farm, hunted together, and shared food. Her great grandfather fiddled at the Court House for the townspeople and local Native Americans on Friday nights.
Ina was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Mason, where she served as secretary for 26 years. Prior to that, she worked at the Register of Deeds Office at the Ingham County Courthouse, and at the Wesley Credit Union in Eaton Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her ex-husband Dick, their son Rick, and three sisters: Eileen Laing of East Lansing, Ann Artz of Battle Creek, and Jean Soule of Williamston.
She is survived by her sister Eleanor of Holt, her daughter Beverly and her son Bob (Kathy) of Mason, her daughter Nancy of New York City, plus grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a multitude of family and friends.
Ina was an avid puzzler and reader, a 4H leader, a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Mason, and of the Coventry Players. She had a zeal for life, enjoying gardening, traveling, the arts, and helping other people. She was kind, generous, and loved by many.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23rd at the First United Methodist Church in Mason at 1 PM. Visitation will begin at Noon.
In lieu of flowers, her family has asked that you do a kind deed for someone in her memory.
