Helen Arlene Stuart (née Eifert), aged 95, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024, in Mason, MI. Born on December 8, 1928, in Aurelius Township, MI, Helen was a cherished member of her community and a beacon of love and faith throughout her life.
Helen graduated from Mason High School and later earned a Masters in Education at Michigan State University. She dedicated her career to teaching, fostering a love of learning in her students. Her passion for education extended beyond the classroom as she also served as a Sunday school teacher and supervisor.
A devoted wife to Gordon Stuart, Helen was a loving mother to Nancy Adams (Jeff) and Joyce Fetters (Jeff). She was a grandmother to Alan Adams (Janell), Karen Nyquist (Sawyer), Scott Adams (Melinda), Jeb Fetters (Lisa), and Jenni Fipaza (Songo), and a proud great-grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Lois Holmes. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Lela Eifert; her brothers, Kenneth Eifert (Amy) and Charles Eifert (Arlene); sister, Marion Cole (Albert); brother-in-law LeRoy Holmes; a great-granddaughter, Ella Nyquist; and in-laws, Duane Stuart (Phyllis).
Helen was a longtime member of Mason Church of Nazarene before attending South Church in Lansing, where she continued her lifelong commitment to her faith.
Her personal interests included genealogy and traveling, activities that brought her great joy and satisfaction. Helen's legacy is not only in the love she shared but also in the knowledge and history she preserved for future generations.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to McLaren Hospice and team. They also wish to express thanks to Mercedes and Mary for their compassionate care in Helen's final days.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Right to Life of Michigan. Helen's life was a testament to her faith and her unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held for Helen at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Ball Dunn Chapel at 621 S Jefferson St, Mason, MI 48854 on Thursday, October 17, 2024. A visitation will begin at 12pm, followed by service at 1pm.
A graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery following services.
