Charles Robert Jones of McMillan, MI died peacefully in his sleep on December 22, 2019 in Dansville, MI. Charlie was the third child born to Clarence and Razella (Rattray) Jones on April 11,1931. He grew up in Lansing and owned a service station for a few years and then worked for General Motors where he retired from in 1988. He married Kathryn Albro on April 29, 1961 in Toledo, OH and she preceded him in death July 7,1975. He later married Ethel Moses and they retired to McMillan, MI and she preceded him in death on November 22, 2004.
Charlie served his country in both the U.S. Navy and the Army. He loved being outdoors and working with his hands in the garden or building and fixing things. He loved living at the lake and enjoyed hunting and fishing all year long but his favorite time was in the fall when all met at the hunting cabin for deer season. He enjoyed the camp buck stories and cooking meals for the guys. In the spring he enjoyed walleye and lake trout fishing in Canada. In the off seasons he enjoyed traveling and woodworking and was very good at his craft.
Charlie is survived by his loving son, Robert and Carolyn Jones; grandchildren, Daniel and Kathleen Jones; and great grandson Jackson Jones; brothers, Donald, David and June Jones; sister, Helen Jones; step children, Glenn and Elaine Secor, Gary Secor, Vicky Schmermann, Judy and Ron Koonter, Linda and Gary Caster, and Barry Corey. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Jones; brothe,r George Jones; and step daughters, Brenda Corey and Betty Lou Brewster.
Funeral services will be December 27, 2019 at noon with visitation from 10:00 - 12:00 at Gorsline Runciman in Mason, burial immediately following at Deepdale Memorial Gardens in Lansing with Pastor Robert Carpenter officiating. Pall Bearers, Robert Jones, Daniel Jones, Glenn Secor, Gary Secor, Robert Reeves, and Larry Holibaugh.
