Randy John (R.J.) Turner passed on March 26, 2022 in Tulalip, Washington. R.J. was born in Everett, WA on September 10, 1991 and lived the majority of his life on the Tulalip Indian Reservation. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Bert Robbinson, Steve Jablonski, Jim Zackuse, and John Turner, grandmother Alice Zackuse, and aunt Beatrice Myers. He is survived by his parents Randy Turner (Dealisa) and Leanne Fryberg; grandmothers Cookie Fryberg Robbinson and Vicki Jablonski; siblings Meika Fryberg, Michael (Jamie) Turner, and Natasha (Dan) Turner; Aunts Michelle McCracken, Stephanie Fryberg, Leonie (Larry) Lindhorst, Jolene Fryberg, and Linzee Jablonski, Uncles Steve Fryberg, Jeremy Jablonski, Tony Reese, Jeff Myers Sr., John (Ginger) Myers, and Joe (Jessica) Myers; nieces and nephews Rian, Rylie, Carson, and Davin and numerous cousins and extended family members. He also leaves behind the love of his life Monika Seyss and her two daughters Haven and Nova.
R.J. attended Marysville Pilchuck High School and spent most of his career fishing, crabbing, and working as a boat lift operator at the Tulalip Marina. As a child, he was diagnosed with a serious incurable medical condition that ultimately took his life. Yet, for more than two decades, R.J. never let the illness impede his zest for life. He lit up every room he entered with his big smile and sense of humor—he was literally a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. He was a great relative and friend who was loved by many. He loved water sports, hiking, hanging out with his friends, watching the 49ers (and clowning the Seahawks), playing softball, and playing jokes on his family and friends. When R.J. graduated from the Tulalip Wellness court, he held that day as a major source of pride and accomplishment.
The family wants to offer a special thanks to BabyJ, Austin, and Patrick who flew to Florida and drove for four days straight to bring R.J. home when his illness flared up. These brothers
stepped up when R.J. called on them. We will forever be grateful that you brought him home to us. We did not know it was his time but having those last conversations and memories with him will always be cherished. The family also wants to thank all those who shared their love and friendship with R.J. over the years; he had a big heart and loved so many. We are grateful for the joy you brought to his life.
R.J.s service will be held at the Gathering Hall, Tulalip, WA on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 10:00 am. There will be a procession just before the service from Shafer-Shipman to the Gathering Hall at 8:30am. Arrangements are entrusted to Shaefer-Shipman Funeral Home.
