He was born March 8, 1927 in Ketchikan, Alaska. He graduated from Ketchikan High School in 1945 where he was the class president and captain of the state champion basketball team. He moved to Washington in 1966. He was a master carpenter. Norman loved to hunt and fish and to travel. In his later years, Norman organized Ketchikan class reunion cruises – at least thirteen.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Lee Olsen and her family; daughters, Olivia (Don) Davis, Linda (Jim) Kinerk; sons Peter (Kim) Olsen and Robert (Marlene) Olsen; two brothers, Oscar and Leonard Olsen; eight grandchildren, his nephew Arny Denny; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Olivia in 1988. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
A Celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 1 PM at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home. Interment to follow at the Marysville Cemetery. Donations may be made to your favorite Christian charity.
