A funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on December 13th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marysville. A celebration of life reception will follow at the church’s reception hall.
Mario was born on April 6th, 1937 in La Paz, Bolivia to Lino Fuentes and Nieves Bozo de Fuentes. He grew up in Miraflores and graduated from San Calixto School. He graduated from the Universidad Mayor de San Andres with a degree in Civil Engineering.
Mario was a remarkable civil engineer working on very important projects for the city of La Paz including the different sporting infrastructures for the 1977 Juegos Bolivarianos in Bolivia, the remodel of La Paz City Bus Terminal originally designed by the famous French engineer Gustave Eiffel, dams and various airport runways throughout Bolivia. He worked as Pavement Director for the city of La Paz and was a part time professor at Escuela Militar de Ingenieria (EMI). Mario retired from Administracion de Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares a la Navegacion Aerea (AASANA).
He married Carmen Liendo Kalaff on August 1969 in La Paz, Bolivia and together they had three wonderful children. Mario was an extraordinary father and grandfather. Family was Mario’s passion. He found great satisfaction in attending his children and grandchildren’s activities. He loved to travel, soccer, racquetball, chess, Sudoku, music and good food. Mario is survived by his two daughters Jackie Rieger and Kathy Hines, his son Oscar Fuentes; six grandchildren Dante, Malik, Carlo, Sophia, Moses and Victoria; his sister Silvia Fuentes de Rodriguez.
