Janice Leone McGhee, 83, of Marysville passed away May 23, 2023 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Everett, WA to John and Nettie Dalton. She graduated from Everett High School. She was 18 years old when she married Donald L. McGhee on Aug. 16, 1958. He was the love of her life and remained so even after his unexpected passing in 2000. After 22 years apart they are now reunited in Heaven.
If you knew Janice, you knew her for her strong faith, kindness, generosity, hard work, fondness for tomatoes and seafood, especially oysters, deep love for her family, her mischievous streak paired with a smile, and her impeccable fashion sense, love of shoes and the color red. She was also fiercely independent and adorably stubborn. She could be found swiftly removing a dining bill from your grasp and telling you not to embarrass yourself by arguing with her about the fact that she was paying - all with a smile. Her spunk was endless.
She was affectionately referred to as “the paint lady” around the community for her many years working in the paint department of E&E Lumber. Even after retirement people turned to her for paint advice as she had a keen eye for color and style.
Janice was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, “G.G.”, sister and friend. Her light was bright and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her three children, Vicki Locker (Pat), Gina Wilson (Dan) and Don McGhee Jr; her eight grandchildren, Tegan, Marcus, Tyler, Kailee, Logan, Mackenzie, Mitchel, and Macall; and great-grandchildren, Talia, Adyson, Rylie, Owen, Gemma, Easton, Myles, Sydney, Ellie, Jadin, Rooney and two more on the way. She is also survived by her sister Lois Emory (Gilbert) and family.
A celebration of her life will be held on June 8th at 2:00pm at Bethany Christian Assembly in Everett. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association or Bethany Compassion Center c/o Bethany Christian Assembly Church.
