William Donald Martin

William Donald “Daddy Don” Martin, age 82, of 1003 Valient Lane, Martinsville died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at his residence. He was born January 5, 1929, in Martinsville, to the late Robert Cutler Martin and Mary Stegall Martin. Don served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was retired from Tultex with 22 years of service as their computer operations manager. He was a long time member of Chatham Heights Baptist Church where he served for many years as a Deacon, and several terms as Chairman of the Deacons, as well as serving as a Sunday school teacher. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister Georgia Leigh Martin Lee and one grandchild, William Donald Martin III. Surviving are his wife of 56 years Peggy Ramsey Martin of the home, one daughter, Ann Martin Boaz of Ruffin, NC, one son William “Will” Donald Martin II of Durham, NC, one sister Christine M. Bennett of Martinsville, one brother Robert C. Martin Jr. of Ridgeway, seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Chatham Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Mike Hatfield officiating, entombment will follow in the Roselawn Mausoleum.
