She appreciated the values that farm chores instilled and particularly enjoyed explaining the merits of milking the cows and what a luxury it was to ride her horse, Springbud, to school.
Patricia graduated from Warrenton High School in 1946 and Westhampton College in 1950. She began her teaching career in Fauquier County, Richmond City and finished in Martinsville City Schools. Her greatest joy in life was teaching and she dedicated her life to teaching many generations of Martinsville’s children.
She was a long time member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed being active in WMU and was a proud DAR member. She was loved at Kings Grant and known for her quick wit, humorous rhymes and radiant smile.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha Carter Kelly and Harry Payne Kelly; her husband of 60 years, Lloyd Alexander Jordan; sister, Anne Kelly Bowman; brother Harry Carter Kelly; daughter, Susan Gayle Jordan and son, James Alexander Jordan.
She is survived by her son, Carter Lee Jordan (Mary Lynn); five grandchildren, Joshua Lee Jordan, Spencer Walden Jordan (Chelsea), Mary Carter Jordan, Caroline Kelly Jordan and Riggs Alexander Jordan. She often said, “The three most important things in life are faith, family and friends.”
A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2022 at King Grant Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 10:00 am and will be officiated by Chaplain Paul Johnson. An 11:00 am Graveside service will follow at Roselawn Burial Park and will be officiated by Pastor Stephen Lackey.
