Louise retired from E.I. DuPont after 38 years of service. The last 25 years of her employment; she worked in the Chemical Lab. She was a proud member of Chatham Heights Baptist Church. She was also a member of the ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Moose Lodge of Daytona Beach, Fla., where she resided four months out of the year.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard (Buck) Smith, Sr. and her son, James Howard Smith, Jr.. The last living of twelve children, she was also preceded in death by her sisters: Alease Cox, Doris Wells, Gertrude Payne and Mary Ann Deal, brothers: Clarence (Dude), Douglas, Forrest, J. Kermit, N.C., Richard and Lloyd Riddle, sister-in-law Angeline Martin Riddle, and her companion, John D. Plum.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Michael Smith, three grandchildren: Ginger Gardner, Rhett Smith, Dean Bruton, four great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Ellen B. Riddle and numerous nieces and nephews who have meant so much to her.
The family would especially like to thank Ruby Amos for her care and dear friendship over the past thirteen years as well as express our deepest appreciation to the amazing team at Mountain Valley Hospice.
In service to others, Mrs. Smith requested that her body be donated to medicine and the study of science. Her memorial service will be held on January 11th at 1:00pm at Chatham Height Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Hatfield officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at the church.
