 Obituario de Lawrence Gerald Pratt
Lawrence Gerald Pratt, 90, of 6111 George Taylor Road in Spencer, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Henry County on May 11, 1920 to Alva Lee Pratt and Nellie Taylor Pratt. He was in the Army during World War II where he received the Purple Hearts and the Oak Leaf Cluster. He served in the 1st Armored Division, 3rd Army, commanded by General George Patton. He was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church and attended Mayo Baptist Church. Mr. Pratt retired from Stanley Bowles Construction Company where he was a finish carpenter for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Gray Pratt and a brother, Virgil Lee Pratt. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bessie Hennis Pratt of the residence; one daughter, Denise P. Morrison of Ridgeway; one son, Keith Pratt of Winchester; one sister, Alvaretta P. Joyce of Ridgeway; one brother, Cecil Pratt of Martinsville and one grandson. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 18, 2011 at 2:00 PM Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with Minister Robie Catoe and Rev. Ronald W. Hennis officiating. Interment with full military honors by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Friday, one hour to the funeral service at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville and other times at the residence.
