Joyce Cook Young

Joyce Cook Young, 66, of Martinsville passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016. She was born in Grundy, VA. on July 1, 1949 to Lionel Keith and Clarice B. Cook. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy G. Young; Brother Charles Wayne Cook; Aunt Mrs. Faye Branson and infant nephew Phillip Neil Cook. Surviving are her daughter, Jessica Young Nigh and her husband Bryan; granddaughter, Madelynn Olivia Nigh; sister Sue Cook Scott and her husband Tom of Brandon , FL.; sister-in-law Thelma R. Young of Martinsville; brother-in-law Larry L. Young and wife Doris of King N.C.; several Nieces and nephews. Mrs. Young received her Bachelor and Master Degrees in Education from Radford University. She was school teacher for thirty-five years, twenty-five of which were in the Martinsville and Henry County School Systems. The funeral will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 2:00 PM at McKee-Stone Chapel with Pastor Jim Wilson officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at McKee-Stone Chapel. Burial will follow the funeral at Roselawn Burial Park.
