Charles William (Bill) Vaughn, 78, of Martinsville, VA died Friday, December 15, 2023 at King’s Grant Retirement Community. Bill was born August 6, 1945 in High Point, NC, the son of the late Walter Lacy Vaughn and Genelle Hensley Vaughn.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Vaughn; children, Chas Vaughn of Raleigh, NC, Will Vaughn (Meredith) of Martinsville, VA and Evelyn Williams of Bassett, VA; step-children, Nena Cloer (Thad) of Greenville, SC and Chad Copp (Laura) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Will Vaughn, Jr., Harris Vaughn, Sally Vaughn, Cameron Speight, Roy Speight, Gabrielle Henson, Alexandra Cloer, Christian Cloer and Anden Copp; brother, Larry Vaughn (Toni) of Raleigh, NC; and the mother of his children, Marilyn Vaughn of Martinsville, VA.
The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers and medical professionals who cared for Bill over the last year of his life at Duke University Hospital, Sovah Health & King’s Grant. The family also appreciates the steadfast support provided by close friends.
Bill was a member of First United Methodist Church in Martinsville, VA. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather known as “Pop”. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A funeral service for Bill will be conducted at First United Methodist Church in Martinsville, VA on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 2PM with Pastors Faith Weedling and Thad Cloer officiating. The family will receive friends at First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, December 19 preceding the service at 1pm.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church at 146 East Main Street, Martinsville, Va. 24112.
