Born on June 14, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Ethel Ellen Shingleton.
Bill served in the United States Coast Guard and worked for General Motors until his retirement. He was a faithful member of Independent Bible Church since 1971. He loved music and singing in the choir.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Hedrick Shingleton; four children: Billy, Ethel, Ruth, and Paul; stepson, Michael; eight grandchildren: Amber, Amy, Ashley, Melissa, Derrick, Jake, Logan, and Jennifer; ten great-grandchildren: Hailey, Hayden, Jordan, Cade, Kaycen, Zyan, Quinn, Ashton, Gabby, and Sophia; and two great-great-grandchildren: Sienna Haven and Heidi Serene.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Shingleton.
Family and friends will be received at Independent Bible Church on Monday, May 22, 2023 from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 1pm. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
