Born November 28, 1930, she was the daughter of Margaret Selena Writt Jackson and Robert Lee Jackson.
She was a homemaker most of her married life and worked for AT&T Telephone Company in the late 40’s and early 50’s. She was the office manager for her son’s dental practice in Charles Town for 12 years.
She was a member of the Winchester Avenue Christian Church. She spent her entire life devoting her time to her children and their friends. She served as JV cheerleading coach at South Junior High School from 1971 -72. She assisted her husband as the Team Mom for little league baseball and football for 5 years.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. J.R. Chambers II and Meredith Smith-Chambers; one daughter and son-in-law, with whom she resided, Mitsy Lynn Chambers-Hardy and Rick Hardy; one granddaughter Cari J. Chambers-Funkhouser; one grandson, Drew Hough; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jack Ronald Chambers. She was the last of her immediate family having been preceded in death by 2 brothers: Robert Lee Jackson and Benjamin Francis (Frank) Cornelius Jackson; and three sisters: Anna Selena Jackson Ware, Nettie Rebecca Jackson Bell, and Ethel Alberta Jackson Ramey.
There will be no viewing or visitation as requested by Mrs. Chambers.
Services will be graveside by Charles Hopkins at Rosedale Cemetery on Monday, December 23rd at 1:00pm.
Mrs. Chambers requested, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or Hospice of the Panhandle.
