She was the daughter of the late Berkeley “Buck” Woodrow Lewis and Addie May Malatt Lewis. She was born in Martinsburg, West Virginia, and was a life-long resident of Berkeley County, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Shingleton, and a brother, Berkeley Tate Lewis. She is survived by a sister, Patricia A. (Lewis) Sturman and husband, Harry C. Sturman, of Martinsburg, West Virginia.
She is survived by two daughters: Debbie and husband, Jay Alder, three granddaughters, three great-grandchildren; Sandy Shingleton-Salyers and husband, Jerry; two sons: Bruce Shingleton, and Eric Shingleton and wife, Carolyn, and two grandchildren.
Other surviving relatives are a sister, Patti Horner, sister-in-law, Margaret Friend, a niece, Cynthia Gilman, five nephews: Bill Vance and wife, Lynn, Jay Vance and Randy Lewis and wife Darlene, Roger Lewis, and Craig Lewis and wife, Shelly, and many cousins.
Janet was a graduate of Musselman High School and was employed by 3M Company, Middleway, West Virginia, for many years.
She enjoyed traveling, reading, growing plants, peanut butter and anything lemon. She loved her dog, Katie. Her favorite football team was Dallas Cowboys and she very much enjoyed watching the games. She adored her precious children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Arden, West Virginia, and Moler Avenue Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg, West Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 17, from noon until time of funeral service, beginning at 1:00pm at Rosedale Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
