A lifelong resident of Martinsburg, WV, Glenn was born on November 12, 1937 to his parents Harold G. Miller, Sr. and Ruth L. (Hollar) Lambert, who preceded him in death.
After completing High School, Glenn served as a draftsman in the U.S. Air Force at the end of the Korean War. He then joined the U.S. Army and was stationed abroad in Germany.
He would go on to work at Corning Glass Works for over 40 years. His time and dedication to his trade was fuelled by his desire to provide for his family. He was fulfilled by the fact that he worked hard to help enable his family to pursue their passions and to travel all over the world.
An accomplished builder and craftsman all his life, his last notable work would be his grand-designed tree house he proudly constructed for his two grandchildren at the age of 83 during the pandemic lockdown in their garden.
A member of the Knights of Columbus and Corning Fire Brigade, over the years Glenn volunteered his talents to his local Catholic communities and schools to assist with their fundraising, events and projects. In retirement, in 2002, he led the building of the St. Leo’s Knights of Columbus Church Hall during its two year construction.
Recreationally, like a true born and bred West Virginian, Glenn loved fishing and hunting. He could be found almost any day of the year, supporting the WVU Mountaineers, especially the football team.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Edna Marie (Brumbaugh) Miller to whom he was married for 56 years. They first met at Pikeside Bowling Alley in 1962 and were married on November 4, 1966. Over the following six decades, Glenn and Edna created a lifetime of memories that were centered around their love of family and friends. Glenn often humorously cited that the key to their long and solid partnership was to recognize that “the first 100 years are the hardest.”
Glenn is survived by his only daughter, Angelique Marie Miller Richardson, son-in-law Wyndham and two grandchildren, Tate and Margot, all of London, England. He is also survived by his sister Lois E. Miller, of Morgantown, WV, his step-brother Larry Haines and wife Sandy, of Pennsylvania, step-sister Barbara Flowers, deceased, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, too numerous to name.
The family is having Visitation on Thursday, December 22nd from 6-8pm at Rosedale Funeral Home.
The Funeral will take place on Friday, December 23, 2022 at 10am at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Inwood, WV. Graveside services at Rosedale Cemetery will follow with a return to St. Leo’s Church for a luncheon to celebrate Glenn’s life. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, this Christmas season especially, please donate to or help a family or organization in need; a small act of generosity is something Glenn would have loved to see.
