He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and of the WVU Mountaineer football and basketball teams. He liked music and could name every band playing on the radio and knew the words of every song from his favorite rock groups “Pink Floyd” and “Lynyrd Skynyrd”. He loved sweet tea, a freshly mowed yard, raw oysters, and hardshell Maryland crabs.
He wrote a book entitled “Reach, Teach, and Touch”, his personal life story, to try and help others recover, heal, and escape from the grips of drug abuse. Dave will be remembered for his wittiness, sense of humor, and hard work ethic. He never forgot a birthday, an anniversary, or a special occasion. Dave was always willing to help others and he had an unconditional love for his children and family. Unfortunately, the power of addiction and the sorrow that it brings robbed him of living life to its fullest.
He is survived by his children Eric Taylor, Jeremy Taylor and wife Kim, and daughter Ashley Taylor; 7 grandchildren, Chassidy, Donivan, Bella, Emma, Janelle, Liam and Cash; one great grandchild; his sister Lynn, and many other special relatives, cousins and extended family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his younger brother Robert Scott Taylor, and his grandparents Charles and Elizabeth Taylor, and Alger and Leona Rose Bradley.
The following poem seems most appropriate to share here:
The Tale of Two Wolves:
A Cherokee elder is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me”, he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil- he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “the other is good- he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.” The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too”. The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.” Author unknown
